Debit cards for Social Security - Help or Hinderance?

The Social Security Administration appears to be taking another step in the march towards a cashless society. By removing the paper check from the system, the government does not have to pay you in cash. They provide you with a debit card (with attending transaction fee, I'm sure) which they control. This way, you have to go to them for cash.

You screw up, you get cut off. They think you have too much, they take it away. You have no control over your own destiny with this little card. And you don't have a choice. This is a nice little Trojan horse. Child Support and alimony is paid this way in the State of California.

It's all about control.

I totally believe this is a move to a cash less society. I mean if they know everything your buying, they can really use it against you. Furthermore...they can take any amount of money they want.
