Lots more gardening and bicycling

I slept in this morning. Normally, I'd go down to the farmer's market. I would have spent about 13 bucks on a bunch of in season fruit, couple of heads of lettuce, some various veggies, and some nuts.

Tonight, I went to the Von's supermarket. I spent 15 dollars on 8 apples and oranges and 2 lbs of lettuce. I have a discount card, it would have been 17 dollars otherwise. "You saved 1 dollar 97 cents Mr. Palmer". On the way home, I filled up the car with gas. It was 32 dollars. So, for a tank of gas, 8 pieces of fruit, and 2 lbs of lettuce, I paid almost 50 bucks.

FIFTY BUCKS! Is this an open air movie theater? I can eat cheaper at the concession stand in my local theater.

I think that you will see a sudden and strong interest in gardening and bicycling. Out of practicality, you'll see people turn their backyards and out of sight plots of land into gardens. The sudden interest will be out of practicality, the cost of food and other things are going out of sight.

Gasoline is on the verge of being ruinious. I think you'll see a lot more interest in walking, biking, and mass transit as the price of gasoline continues to go up. While the demand will drop because of the recession, the price being sustained at this level without an adjustment in the wages of people are going to force folks to stop driving. You just can't afford it anymore.

And the veggies.. OMG... sad little things they have in the grocery stores nowadays. Looks like the best is being shipped somewhere else than here in the breadbasket of the world.

Hehe, 30 bucks to fill up a car, that's cheap! Here in Sweden you would pay about 80 bucks to fill up a car.
